What is a gifted sub?
A gifted sub is, as the name suggests, a subscription that is gifted by someone. As a recipient of a gifted sub, you will have all the benefits of a regular subscriber for the next 30 days. Once the 30 days are over, you will automatically lose your subscription.
During the time you were awarded a gifted sub you will gain access to:
- Sub badge in chat
- Subscriber-only emotes
- Ad-free experience
- Access to subscriber-only chat and subscriber-only streams
How do I know I have been gifted a sub?
Once you have been gifted a sub, you will receive a notification as follows:
Stating which user (unless they chose to remain anonymous) decided to give you a sub.
How can I gift a sub?
You can gift a sub to someone in 3 steps.
Step 1: Click on the sub button
Underneath the Twitch stream of the person you wish to gift subs to, click on the button that says ‘subscribe’.
A popup window will appear which displays all the subscriber benefits and gives you options to select between a tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3 subscription.
In order to gift a sub, click on the ‘gift’ button next to the purple ‘subscribe button’.
Step 2: Select how many subs you want to gift
In the next window, you will be able to select however many subs you wish to gift.
You can also choose between tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3 subscriptions.
If you wish to gift anonymously, check the appropriate box.
Step 3: Pay for the gifted sub(s)!
Now all you have to do is pay for the gifted sub through either Paypal or a credit card.
These subs will be gifted to a random person that is currently watching the stream.
Are gifted subs random…?
It depends. As a gifter, you can pick individual people and gift them a sub. But for the most part, gifted subs are random.
For example, if you see the popup ‘Ludwig has gifted 100 subs’, those 100 gifted subs will be divided, randomly, among the current viewers of the livestream.
How to gift a sub to viewer of your choice
If you gift a sub using the method we have stated above, the gifted subs will be delivered to random viewers.
If you however, wish to CHOOSE who you want to gift a sub to, you can do so by right-clicking their name in the Twitch chat.

How can I receive a gifted sub?
Since gifted subs are mostly random, you will have to patiently wait and watch a streamer and hope you get lucky.
Big streamers often get gifted subs while they are on stream, but since thousands and thousands of people are watching, you have to be quite lucky to randomly receive one.
One surefire way to increase your chances of getting a gifted sub is by actively talking in the Twitch chat. While this won’t increase your chances of getting a randomly gifted sub, it does give you more exposure and could potentially lead to someone gifting you a sub simply because they like you.
How much is 1 gifted sub on Twitch?
Just like regular subs, every gifted sub costs $4.99. Of course, there are also Tier 2 and tier 3 subs which cost $9.99 and $24.99 respectively. Although, tier 2 and tier 3 gifted subs are extremely rare.
