What does MonkaOMEGA mean on Twitch?
The MonkaOMEGA emote is a variation of the MonkaS emote signifying that a very stressful situation is occurring.
When the original MonkaS emote simply doesn’t cut it anymore, MonkaOMEGA is used.
Visually, the MonkaOMEGA emote is a Pepe frog (the same used in MonkaS) with expanded eyes. The MonkaOMEGA has a similar appearance to the MonkaGIGA emote but they have different meanings. Both have big, expanded eyes but MonkaGIGA has expanded pupils as well to indicate that something is very scary.
Origin of MonkaOMEGA on Twitch
MonkaOMEGA was uploaded to BTTV in 2017 by user P3NTAZ, 1 year after the popular MonkaS emote was first uploaded.
The original MonkaS emote was first uploaded in 2016 but didn’t get picked up until 2017 when it became popular through streamer Forsen’s chat. Forsen is a big streamer known for his influence on Twitch emotes. Aside from MonkaS, he’s also known for making the term ‘malding‘ popular.
Once MonkaS started to pickup, variations quickly started to pop up as well.

How to get MonkaOMEGA emote on Twitch
If you want to get MonkaOMEGA on Twitch, you will have to install the Better Twitch TV browser extension. We have a separate article dedicated to the installation of BTTV. Here’s the TL;DR:
- Go to BetterTTV.com select your browser and download the browser extension, you can then see the emotes on supported Twitch channels.
- To configure your BTTV options, head on over to the chat of any Twitch streamer (they don’t have to be live) and hit chat settings, where you can personalize your BTTV settings.
If you wish to add the MonkaOMEGA and other emotes to your OWN Twitch channel, you can do so by signing in to BTTV using your Twitch credentials and authorizing your Twitch account. Next, you can head over to the emote list and add MonkaOMEGA to your Twitch channel.
Afterward, your viewers will then be able to use the MonkaOMEGA emote on your Twitch channel and they will see if they have BTTV installed as a browser extension (which the majority does already anyway).
When to use MonkaOMEGA on Twitch
Whenever a super stressful and anxious moment is occurring on a stream, you can use the MonkaOMEGA emote. For example, when a regular MonkaS doesn’t cut it, you’ll opt for the MonkaOMEGA emote.
Origin of Pepe the frog Meme
Pepe The Frog is an anthropomorphic frog illustrated by artist Matt Furie that first appeared in a 2005 comic ‘Boy’s club’. Pepe became an internet meme after Matt Furie posted the cartoon on his Myspace blog, it quickly went viral and got reposted to 4chan in 2008. By 2015 it was one of the most popular internet memes and many variations of the frog started popping up online.
By 2010, Pepe the Frog had become a symbol within alt-right and white-supremacist movements. Since then, Matt Furie has sued many such extremist organizations for attempting to profit from his illustration.
Matt did welcome the use of Pepe the frog during the Hong Kong protests.
The use of Pepe the frog and monka emotes on Twitch is completely unrelated to alt-right movements.
